Meeting someone new can be daunting—and visiting a new church can be even more so. At Saint Joan of Arc, we want your first visit to be a welcoming and grace-filled experience. You are among friends here.
Worship Time & Location
Holy Eucharist is celebrated at 9:00 AM, usually on the Second and Fourth Sundays of the month (please check the calendar for updates).
We currently share worship space with Bayside Christian Church, located at:
2224 Greenwell Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455
First of all—we are not great singers yet, but we are learning together!
Saint Joan of Arc is a small but growing parish, made up of a beautiful mix of young families and longtime faithful. Our worship is Western, Orthodox Catholic and liturgical, meaning it follows the ancient rhythm of the Church: hymns, prayers, responses, readings from Scripture, a homily, and Holy Communion.
If this style of worship is new to you, it may feel unfamiliar at first—but over time, many people find a comforting rhythm of prayer and participation. To help, we provide a service booklet so you can easily follow along. Our liturgy lasts about one hour.
Holy Communion is celebrated at every service. Two things especially shape our practice at Saint Joan of Arc:
We teach the traditional understanding of the Eucharist.
We practice open Communion, welcoming all baptized Christians—Catholic or not—to the Lord’s Table.
For children who have not yet received Holy Communion, we offer First Communion classes to help them understand before they receive Communion. Just ask—we are happy to help.
Our Sundays are a blend of reverence and joy—a time of prayer, renewal, and community. Dress casually or wear your Sunday best; either way, come as you are and expect a warm welcome.
Our Identity & Beliefs
Saint Joan of Arc is an Orthodox Catholic mission parish of the United American Catholic Church. We understand ourselves as part of the ancient, undivided Church, rooted in historic Christian faith, sacramental life, and apostolic tradition.
At the same time, we embrace what we call Traditional Inclusivity. This means we hold firmly to classical Christian theology, liturgical worship, and moral seriousness—while also extending Christ’s welcome to those who have often felt excluded or unheard in church spaces. We believe faithfulness to tradition and radical hospitality are not opposites, but belong together.
Here you will find reverent worship, thoughtful teaching, and a community committed to walking the Christian journey with honesty, compassion, and hope.
Absolutely. We love children.
Children worship with us, not separately. If your child becomes restless or needs a moment, please feel free to step outside or walk down the hallway to the left until they are ready to rejoin the congregation. No one will be bothered, and there is never any need for embarrassment.
After the liturgy, please join us for coffee hour and introduce yourself. We would be delighted to greet you and help in any way we can. Be sure to say hello to our priest, Father Nicholas—he looks forward to meeting you.
